Acupuncture

Although people often associate acupuncture with large needles and mystical practices, modern research has shown that it is a powerful tool in reducing pain and promoting the body’s natural healing abilities.

If there is an imbalance in the natural, health flow of energy, this can reflect as a physical problem.  By stimulating a combination of specific points, the acupuncturist can restore balance in the body and assist the body in healing itself more effectively.

Acupuncture is extremely effective when applied properly and when used in conjunction with other natural health sciences such as: chiropractic care, exercise, and nutritional therapies.

Acupuncture has been credited with helping numerous conditions, including: acute and chronic pain, headaches, migraines, allergies, digestive problems, fibromyalgia, anxiety, low back pain, smoking cessation, and many others. Several studies have been performed in Europe and Asia to confirm these applications.  The World Health Organization, after recently performing a comprehensive study of Acupuncture literature and research stated that “the sheer weight of evidence demands that acupuncture must be taken seriously as a clinical procedure of considerable value.”

Acupressure
How does it work?

We utilize specialized diagnostic equipment to graph the energy pattern of the body and visualize any imbalances that may be present.  This test takes only a few minutes and allows both the patient and the doctor to view and discuss the results.  Following this examination, specific points will be treated to address the complaints and imbalances, customizing treatments to the individual.  We have many types of treatment available including traditional needle stimulation and the modern laser or electronic stimulation modalities, which are equally effective.

At First State Health & Wellness we learn a patient’s complete health history and perform a thorough examination that enables us to develop a customized, effective program of treatment for each individual.

Dr. Bohl Asks some important questions of interest to Rehoboth Beach residents - Chiropractor Rehoboth Beach Dr. Bohl Asks...

Can someone who has had back surgery receive chiropractic care?
Yes. Rest assured that we will avoid the surgically modified areas of your spine. However, what we find is that surgical interventions will often produce spinal instability above or below the involved level. This is will be the focus of your chiropractic care.
Where do most Rehoboth Beach residents get their first subluxation?
Being born in a hospital is a common source of subluxation. Trauma from forceps delivery has been replaced with drugs, vacuum extraction, Cesarean section and births that are "scheduled" to fit the workweek routines of Ob-Gyns. That's why we recommend a chiropractic checkup for every Rehoboth Beach newborn.
