Introducing Rehoboth Beach Chiropractor Jessica Bohl, DC
My first experience with chiropractic occurred after a sports injury in high school. I had been hit so hard that I was feeling nauseous for days following the injury. Due to a past experience of my dad’s, my mom knew to take me to the chiropractor for an evaluation. While waiting in the treatment room I saw a poster the showed how all the nerves of the body have to pass through the spine before they go to your muscles and organs. Realizing how a small injury to the spine could affect so many areas of my health spurred me to become a chiropractor myself.
After researching schools, I decided to attend chiropractic college at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. The curriculum hours were very intense, but it was so interesting learning how the human body worked. My favorite classes were always physiology classes which broke all of your body’s processes down and explained them step by step. My practice philosophy is based on offering patients a form of health care that doesn’t require drugs or surgery. In a society where we are inundated with a “take a pill and call me in the morning” attitude, I think it’s important to remember that healing takes time and that every body response (from pain to fevers) has a purpose. Instead of suppressing symptoms that you may be feeling, it’s better to understand them and get to the real cause of the problem. Causes like poor diet, improper spinal alignment, or undue stress which can lead to a wide variety of symptoms.
My favorite part of the day is when a child comes into the office and climbs onto the table to be adjusted and then “helps” me as I adjust their parents. A moment in practice that was very satisfying for me was when a patient came in for monthly wellness adjustments and had no spinal complaints. This moment was made more meaningful knowing that the first time I met this person, he was crying due to the extreme amount of pain he was in and was scheduled for a third back surgery after two previous failed surgeries. He thought he had no other options until he came to our office.
I met my husband, Tyson Bohl, at chiropractic school. We obviously share many of the same philosophies about health. We keep busy with our pets, two cats and a dog and home improvement projects. We love being outdoors whether it’s time out on the boat wakeboarding, skiing and snowboarding, or rock climbing. I get adjusted about once a week, more often after a wakeboarding crash. The nice thing for me is that I have access to a chiropractor at work or at home! I do my best to follow a sensible eating plan full of whole foods and I do my best to exercise regularly. Like anyone else, I have my good and bad days. Something I try to stick strictly to is not taking unnecessary medications, including over the counter medications. There are times when medical intervention is a necessity, but try to let my body’s healing processes work before turning to pharmaceuticals. After all the school hours learning how our bodies have a built-in system that covers problems we haven’t even thought of yet, makes me more confident in it’s healing ability. I’ve found with regular adjustments, there really haven’t been a lot of times I’ve even thought about reaching for the aspirin!

Introducing Rehoboth Beach Chiropractor Douglas Briggs, DC
I had severe sinus problems for years - it was not until I received chiropractic care that the pain and congestion were relieved
Chiropractic had such a dramatic effect on my life, that I chose it as a career - I wanted to be able to help others feel better and experience the powerful natural healing that I had.
Many people think chiropractic education is not that involved - nothing could be farther from the truth! The first several years of school are the same as for a medical doctor - but the focus is on physical medicine, not drugs and surgery.
My practice philosophy is pretty simple - help people feel better, get better, and stay healthy. Different people have different needs - some need chiropractic, others acupuncture, some need key exercises or a change in their diet - you must find out what the individual needs are to help someone get on the road to better health.
Thanks for visiting my site. I look forward to meeting you in person and learning how to help you reach your health goals. Give the office a call, or email me using the link below and let's set up a time to explore your options.

Introducing Brian D. Jones, N.D., Naturopath
After spending 25 years in the soil science industry in the Philadelphia area, I moved to the Rehoboth area in 2005. Born and raised in the Dover and Wilmington areas, it is nice to be home again.
My journey with natural medicine began with my close call in 1969 with a Marine Corps recruiter and my signing on as a Medic (I was always intrigued by their work) – almost . . . I was ready to sign and thought, as the pen was an inch from the paper, that it might be good to speak with my WWII vet Dad first. Well, I didn’t enter the Marine Corps or go to Vietnam but many of my buddies and family did – some with very close calls. I was fortunate to enter the University of Delaware where I played LaCrosse and graduated with a degree in Health and Physical Education in 1973. The next 8 years were spent directing YMCA’s where I specialized in Fitness Training and Athletics. I went on to receive my Masters in Education from Springfield College, Mass; received my K-12 Special Education Certification from Penn State and taught H.S. Special Education while I started a land care company in Philadelphia dedicated to caretaking the land without the use of pesticides (www.safeturf.com). Having been a pesticide spray foreman during college summers, I experienced during this time some physical issues as a result of that adventure.
As the experience with harsh pesticides manifested into somewhat serious physical issues, my attention turned to utilizing the knowledge I had gained through doing thousands of soil tests and working with the Amish, to re-establishing my health with a similar model. I observed the imbalances in soil nutrients and biology and the subsequent decreased health of grasses and soils – the more balanced the soil was with chemistry, biology, and physical structure, the healthier the soil and grass was – with less weeds and disease. Transferring this template to human beings was not a big jump. We ARE the soil and what is grown in it – nutrients, minerals, and enzymes (or the lack of) – as well as the pesticides and toxins!
So, I secured additional education with a Bachelor of Natural Health Studies and Doctor of Naturopathy degrees from Clayton College of Natural Health and went on to develop complementary and integrative education for improved human health. Bringing together many years of technical experience and training, work with individuals and groups, professional education roles, as well as insight from personal health struggles, I hope to work with you in developing evolved personal health education and recommendations that may assist you in obtaining optimal health and an improved quality of life here in our beautiful beach area and in your travels.
I work with nutrition, natural enzymes, and natural supplements with my work focusing on empowering the individual with information and education. Many issues I see involve flawed eating and digestion that, over time, can negatively effect health. Often correcting flawed digestive conditions can have a dramatic positive effect on health and permit you to lead a fuller life. My work involves common and chronic conditions - children through the mature. Call or E-mail for further information or to schedule a no cost ½ hr. consult. Begin meeting us further at 1st State Health and Wellness – “Where feeling better lasts a lifetime!” - I look forward to meeting you!
